The high average temperature is 83 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. The low is 50 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. The precipitation is rain and hail. Rain is tiny water drops that falls from the clouds when it gets too heavy. Hail is rain that freezes. Those were things about weather in summer.

Summers in Michigan are very hot. Sometimes the temperature gets to be about 80 degrees. Sometimes it even gets hotter than that! Sometimes we get rain and thunderstorms. Once in awhile we may get a tornado. Overall the summertime in Michigan is very beautiful!

These are some kinds of dangerous weather in the summer. Thunderstorms have lightening and thunder. Thunderstorms have rain. Lightening is electricity and it is super hot. Tornadoes can hurt people and our homes. If a tornado goes on water it is called a waterspout. Tornadoes are strong air. Excessive heat is also called a heat wave. Excessive heat is when it is a really hot day. Excessive heat happens only when it is 90 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

Sometimes in the summer you can get sunburn. You have to wear sunscreen. Sometimes the heat index goes very high. When the heat is super hot, you will get very hot and you might get heat stroke and fall down. Stay out of the sun and the heat.

We are going to tell you about safety in summer. In a tornado you can go in your basement, bathroom or closet. You have to be close to your shelter (a shelter is something with a roof). When there is a thunderstorm you can stay in your house or a store. In a heat wave you can wear sunscreen so your skin doesn't burned. You can stay cool by staying in the shade, in the water, or in a building. You can use a fan if you get very hot. Those are some safety tips for summer.

Sometimes we have thunderstorms. You need to find shelter. Do not stay outside. Lightning is dangerous. You can listen to the rain if you're quiet because it's a nice sound. Stay away from windows in case of lightning. Thunder won't hurt you, only lightning.

In the summer you need to wear clothes that will keep you cool. You need to wear t-shirts, shorts, and flip flops. We also wear sunglasses, and bathing suits and skirts and sundresses and hats. We also wear sunscreen so we don't get sunburn. Stay cool!
